Licensing (Pro)

License Your Software, Control Every Activation

Generate keys the moment an order pays, track every activation by site, and ship your own version updates, all without a separate licensing service.

FluentCart Licensing

Solve the Small Stuff First

Every paid order generates a license key instantly, with the terms already built in.

Offer one site, five sites, or unlimited activations, set independently for every product variation.

Customers view, manage, and deactivate their own licenses, right from their account portal.

Ship your own plugin or theme updates, with no third-party licensing service required.

FluentCart Licensing

Every License, Built to Your Terms

Set activation limits and validity per variation, so Single Site, Agency, and Lifetime plans all work exactly the way you actually sell them.

Per-Variation Rules

Give every plan its own activation limit and validity, from one-site trials to unlimited agency plans.

Flexible Validity

License lifespans follow your billing interval automatically, or run lifetime, with nothing to sync by hand.

Licenses That Track Themselves

Licenses That Track Themselves

Every activation, renewal, and upgrade updates the license automatically, so it always reflects what the customer actually owns, not what it owned last month.

Site-Aware Activation

Local and staging sites never count against a customer’s activation limit, only production sites do.

Synced With Subscriptions

Renewals, upgrades, and cancellations all move the license’s status and expiration right along with them.

Your Own Software Update Server

Push version updates, changelogs, and signed releases straight to customer sites, the same job a dedicated update service normally does.

Native Update Delivery

Serve version info, changelogs, and package downloads straight to WordPress, no separate update service needed.

Cryptographically Signed Releases

Sign every release with Ed25519, so customer software can verify it before ever installing.

Your Own Software Update Server
Your Keys. Your Server. Your Rules.

Lock Features to a Valid License

Drop a free, open-source SDK into your own plugin, and you decide exactly what a valid, invalid, or expired license unlocks.

Drop-In Licensing SDK

Copy in a ready PHP class, no license client to build from scratch for your own plugin.

Feature Locks by Status

Check valid, invalid, disabled, or expired, and gate premium features to match, down to the exact reason.

Your Keys. Your Server. Your Rules.

Your Keys. Your Server. Your Rules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Useful things to know from our helpful customer support team.

Yes. Licensing is a Pro feature, enabled through the Product Licensing module before its settings, APIs, and customer-portal sections become available.

No. It works for any product that needs activation-based control. WordPress plugins and themes get a free drop-in SDK, while desktop, mobile, or SaaS apps connect through the same API with their own client.

Cancellation doesn’t revoke access immediately. The customer keeps their license until the period they already paid for actually ends.

Yes. Upgrade paths preserve the existing license where possible, recalculating the activation limit and expiration for the new plan rather than issuing a fresh one.

No. The private signing key stays in your own release process. FluentCart only stores and distributes the signed artifacts, it never has access to the key itself.

Not as a standalone feature by itself. License data is available to FluentCRM’s automation tools, so an expiry-reminder workflow can be built, but it isn’t a built-in scheduler out of the box.

License each product inside the bundle individually. Licensing can’t be applied directly to the bundle as a whole, and upgrade paths aren’t currently available for bundle line items.

Not for a WordPress plugin or theme. A free, open-source SDK drops straight in, handling activation, deactivation, and status checks, so there’s no client to build from scratch.
